European Community Trademark

A European Community Trademark (CTM) provides the coverage of all EU Member States with a single registration. This single registration protects your name in all these countries. The European Community Trademark provides an alternative to National registrations, which are costly and difficult to manage.

How long will it take:	It takes a minimum 6 months before the trademark is officially registered. During this time you have priority and no one else will be able to register the same name.
Which countries are included:	The trademark will be registered in: Austria, Bulgaria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
What does it cost:	The registration of a Community Trademark costs 1.600€ this is a special price valid until the end of 2009. This Price includes 3 classes on which you can register the trademark. 275€ for an EU-Wide search for National Trademarks, to see if you name has not already been registered with one or more National Trademark Agencies. This will prevent you from obtainig a Community Trademark.
How long is the trademark valid:	The trademarks are registered for a period of 10 years. After the 10 years the trademak can be easily renewed.
